This is the second book in what will be a series of three for those aiming to acquire the Japanese B1 and B2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

This book is a comprehensive teaching material for learners at the lower intermediate level (CEFR B1 first half level) to acquire CEFR B1 latter half level to B2 first half level.

As with Intermediate 1, this book consists of seven sections, and each section has a set of three tasks (pre-task, main task, post-task). The themes of each lesson are mainly those related to society and those related to academic topics learned in university classes.

The aim of this series is to broaden the learner’s perspective so that he/she can acquire the deep thinking skills necessary for university and other institutions through collaborative discussions with peers with diverse values. At the same time, emphasis is placed on language knowledge (sentence patterns/expressions, kanji) and the language skills (how to take notes, how to collect information, how to make presentations) necessary to do the tasks, and through the repeated use of these skills, the learner will develop Japanese proficiency.
